At West GA Technical College, Hey everyone! Just doing little mama bear research for my kiddo. She's at Georgia Gwinnett right now, putting in some serious swim laps and studying her brains out. But she’s been eyeing up the Nursing program at West Technical College for while.

Hey there! My kid went through Morehouse, not West Tech, but I've heard bit about their Nursing program from friends.

tbf first off, major props to those in the nursing program - it takes a special kind of dedication and strength! 💪🩺 in my program, i've learned a ton about anatomy, injury prevention, and rehab techniques. It's been super hands-on, working with athletes on campus and shadowing professionals in the field.

The support from professors and resources like our sports science lab have been game-changers for me. If anyone's taken the Nursing program at West Tech or any other college in Georgia, I'd love to hear your firsthand experiences! How was the curriculum structured? Were there opportunities for clinical rotations or internships? And how did you balance studying with practical experience? Can't wait to hear your stories and maybe get some insight into another awesome healthcare program. Thanks in advance for sharing! 🏥

For West Georgia Technical College's nursing programs, the foundation is solid: they offer certificates through the Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN), which is accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) . That's a great sign for a quality education.

For firsthand accounts, I found a specific review for an instructor in the CNA course. One student described their professor as "sweet, caring, and wants you to succeed just as much as you want to" . However, another student had a very different, negative experience with the same professor, citing unprofessionalism . It really highlights how important it is to connect with the specific instructors. WGTC's website also has a testimonial from a nursing student, Raymond Togun, who was drawn to nursing by his mom and is working his way from CNA to PA . Maybe your daughter can connect with him for an insider perspective!

I'm a current student at West Georgia Tech (not nursing, but I have friends in the program). I want to share something important about that instructor review you probably saw.

Yes, Jessica Bishop's reviews are all over the place. My friend had her for NAST1100 and said she's TOUGH but actually prepares you well for the state exam. The "called me slow" review from 2025? My friend heard about that situation—apparently there was more to the story, and that student had missed multiple clinicals without communication. Not excusing unprofessional behavior, but there are always two sides.

What I'd tell your daughter:
  • Visit the campus and sit in on a class if they let you
  • Talk to MULTIPLE students, not just one
  • Ask about NCLEX pass rates and job placement stats
  • Trust your gut when you meet the faculty
Nursing school anywhere is intense. West Georgia Tech's program is solid, but it's not for everyone. Your daughter sounds motivated—that's half the battle. Good luck to her! 🏥
