Congrats on starting at FVSU this fall! That's awesome. My cousin went there and honestly it transformed her whole career path.

The biggest tip I got before starting college that actually helped? Go to office hours. Even if you don't have questions. Just show up, let professors know you exist. At a smaller school like FVSU, that matters even more. Those relationships = recommendations, research opportunities, sometimes jobs.

Also the dining hall hours are NOT what they tell you during orientation lol. Check them yourself day one. Nothing worse than thinking dinner runs till 8 and showing up at 7:30 to locked doors

Freshman survival guide:

1. Financial aid: Get EVERYTHING submitted early. The office gets swamped. Follow up constantly.
2. Housing: Apply the DAY it opens. Good spots go fast.
3. Classes: Rate My Professor is your friend, but take it with a grain of salt. Ask upperclassmen too.
4. Food: Meal plan is worth it freshman year. You'll learn to cook later.
5. Social: Join at least ONE organization first semester. Doesn't matter which. Just get connected.
6. Health: The health center is free for students. Use it. Don't suffer through sickness.
