So, I'm culinary grad from the Art Institute of Atlanta and now run my own little restaurant in Midtown crazy journey! Anyway, recently took trip to Georgia Tech and fell head over heels for the campus vibes.

Hey there! So, I'm over at Savannah College of Art and Design, not exactly Fort Valley, but we all share that Georgia college vibe, right? My biggest piece of advice? Don't stress too much! The first few weeks are whirlwind, but it'll start to feel like home before you know it. That's what happened for me at Valdosta State. Made some lifelong friends in those confusing first days. You've got this! Exciting times ahead, right?

Hey there, welcome to the wildcat family! I'd say the key thing is to really get involved. Join clubs, attend the campus events. It's great way to make friends and truly experience what FVSU has to offer. Don't shy away from professors either, they're there to help you succeed. Remember, balance is key though! Oh, and definitely don't miss out on our homecoming week, it's always blast! Good luck!

Greetings! Recently transferred from Armstrong State University to the University of North Georgia. Looking to connect wanted to chime in about this. What do others think about this?

Congrats on starting at FVSU this fall! 🎉 That's awesome. My cousin went there and honestly it transformed her whole career path.

The biggest tip I got before starting college that actually helped? Go to office hours. Even if you don't have questions. Just show up, let professors know you exist. At a smaller school like FVSU, that matters even more. Those relationships = recommendations, research opportunities, sometimes jobs.

Also the dining hall hours are NOT what they tell you during orientation lol. Check them yourself day one. Nothing worse than thinking dinner runs till 8 and showing up at 7:30 to locked doors 😭

What's your major??

I'm a bit confused—your post mentions Georgia Tech but your title is about Fort Valley? 🤔 Either way, I'll answer for FVSU since that's what you asked!

Freshman survival guide:
  1. Financial aid: Get EVERYTHING submitted early. The office gets swamped. Follow up constantly.
  2. Housing: Apply the DAY it opens. Good spots go fast.
  3. Classes: Rate My Professor is your friend, but take it with a grain of salt. Ask upperclassmen too.
  4. Food: Meal plan is worth it freshman year. You'll learn to cook later.
  5. Social: Join at least ONE organization first semester. Doesn't matter which. Just get connected.
  6. Health: The health center is free for students. Use it. Don't suffer through sickness.
Welcome to the Valley! You're gonna love it here. 🐾
