Georgia Tech is my dream school, but out-of-state tuition is terrifying. I'm trying to figure out what scholarships they offer before I give up and apply somewhere cheaper.

The website mentions Stamps President's Scholars Program — full tuition plus enrichment funding — and Gold and Sapphire Scholarships for Georgia residents . Also Faculty and Staff Scholarships for dependents of employees .

But what about out-of-state students like me? Are there any scholarships that actually make a dent in that $50k+ price tag?

For current Tech students: how did you afford it? What scholarships actually panned out? I need hope. 🏛️

There are also smaller departmental scholarships. I got a $3k Dean's Grant from the College of Sciences my first year. Not huge but every bit helps. They don't advertise these much — you kinda just get considered when you apply. OOS students get priority for some of them since in-state kids have HOPE/Zell.

The Georgia Tech financial aid site says out-of-state students aren't eligible for HOPE or Zell Miller (state programs). So we rely on institutional merit aid and outside scholarships.

Institutional options:
  • Stamps: full ride (50/year)
  • President's: $10k/year (renewable)
  • Faculty Honors: $5k/year
  • Departmental: varies
How to maximize:
  1. Apply Early Action by Oct 15
  2. Fill out scholarship portal by Jan 5
  3. Apply for outside scholarships now
  4. Check with your specific college (Engineering, Computing, etc.) for departmental awards
I got President's + $3k departmental. Not a full ride but enough to make it work.
