What is my biggest challenge now? Finding affordable book options before I fall behind in my classes! 📖⏳ I've scoured the campus bookstore and online stores for used books, but prices are still sky-high!

Any of you fellow Georgia students have tips on snagging cheaper books? Are there any hidden gem bookstores around Athens that won't break the bank? 🤔 Balancing fieldwork adventures with studying is no joke, but it's all worth it when I'm out in nature doing what I love. 🌲🦉 Can't wait to hear your suggestions - thanks in advance for helping a wildlife enthusiast out! 😎

The UGA Libraries have SEVEN locations with course reserves :
  • Main Library (Athens)
  • Science Library (McBay)
  • Carnegie Library (Health Sciences)
  • Curriculum Materials Library (Aderhold)
  • Veterinary Medicine Reading Room
  • Music Library (Hodgson)
  • Dodd Library (Art)
  • Owens Library (Environment & Design)
For wildlife/ecology stuff, focus on Science Library and Main Library. You can check out 2 reserve items at once . Loan periods vary (2 hours to 7 days) depending on what your professor chose . Can't renew? Wait a day and check out again .

The Hidden Hack:
The libraries will sometimes BUY electronic copies of books if faculty request them . If your textbook is available as an eBook through the library, you can access it from ANYWHERE for FREE. No camping in the library required. Check the GIL catalog and look for "Available Online" links.

Selling Back:
When you're done, Baxter Street stores participate in a regional buyback network . Even if UGA isn't using your book next semester, another school might be, and you could still get ~30% back . Way better than the campus store's "we'll give you $5" offer.
