How do I schedule a mock interview at the Career Center?

I'm a junior and according to the Career Planning Milestones, I need to complete a "career planning appointment" where I work with an advisor to discuss career plans and do a "mock interview focused on articulating transferable skills gained through their liberal arts education" . This sounds exactly like what I need before internship applications start.

The Career Center is located in "Lanier Hall, Room 110" with hours "8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday" . You can contact them at *(478) 445-5384* or career.center@gcsu.edu .

They also offer "mock interview opportunities with career advising staff and employer volunteers" — actual employers! That's amazing .

Beyond interviews, they provide:
  • "Individualized advising appointments for developing resumes, practicing interviewing skills, formulating job and internship search strategies, graduate/professional school applications, and career planning"
  • "Career and major exploration advising with access to an online career interest inventory and assessment, Focus2"
  • "Thousands of job and internship opportunities through the Handshake online career management platform"
They also host "over 12 annual career fairs and networking events with employers and graduate schools each year" .

For students who've done mock interviews: was it helpful? Were the interviewers nice? I'm nervous but I know I need the practice. 📅

I booked through Handshake — that's how most schools do it now. Log in, go to Career Center tab, look for "appointments" and select "mock interview." But GCSU might have a different system. The phone number they gave is probably fastest. Just call and say you're a junior needing mock interview practice before internship apps. They'll walk you through it.
