How bad is humidity in Georgia really?

Okay, so I arrived in Atlanta for orientation and I take back every complaint I ever made about Minnesota cold. At least when it's cold you can put on more layers. When it's humid, you just... exist in a state of permanent dampness. I stepped outside and my glasses fogged up instantly. My shirt was wet within 30 seconds. What is this place? 😂

According to some website I found, Georgia has "subtropical humid climate" which sounds fancy but actually just means "you will never feel dry again from May to September." Great. Fantastic.

My Georgia-native roommate says "you'll get used to it." But will I actually? Or will I just learn to accept that I'm always slightly sweaty?

The buildings on campus are air conditioned, thank god, but walking between them is like navigating a series of hot puddles of air. My friend from Arizona said "at least it's not dry heat." That's not helpful. Dry heat you can breathe. This feels like breathing through a wet blanket.

For other non-Southerners who moved to Georgia: does it get better? Do you acclimate? Or do you just spend eight months of the year moving from air conditioned building to air conditioned building and pretending the outside doesn't exist?

I need coping strategies. What do people who live here actually DO in July? 🥵
