Final exam calculator made me realize i've been bad at math my whole life

This is embarrassing, but I just had a revelation thanks to a final exam calculator. I've been manually trying to figure out what I need on my finals for years, using a calculator and a lot of guessing. I'd always end up with a number, but I never really trusted it. Today, for my statistics final (the irony is not lost on me), I finally used one of those online tools.

You just plug in your grades, the weights, and your target. And it hit me: I've been doing the math wrong this entire time. I was just averaging everything in my head, completely ignoring the fact that different assignments are worth different percentages. No wonder my manual estimates were always off! I feel like I've been using a flip phone my whole life and someone just handed me a smartphone.

I had the exact same moment during junior year when I finally understood that a 10% homework grade and a 30% exam grade are NOT the same thing. My brain just... never made the connection.

The stats final irony is killing me though. You've been doing unweighted averages your whole life and now you're about to take STATISTICS? The universe has a sense of humor.

But seriously, these calculators are a gift. No more anxiety-guessing. You plug in the numbers and suddenly you know "okay, I need a 73 on the final to pass" and that's actually doable.
