Anyone here attended Skidaway Institute of Oceanography? What was your experience like?

Hey guys, just wrapped up my first year at Emory University. It's been blast so far, but I'm feeling the pull of the sea calling me or maybe it's just the heat here in Atlanta! I've been eyeing the Skidaway Institute of Oceanography as possible next step. Mean, studying sea life and climate while living near the coast? Sign me up! Also, quick detour, any Mercer grads out there? I've heard great things about Mercer and how much it's grown lately. Makes me bit envious, to be honest. But back to the campus has anyone here actually attended? What was your everyday life like there? Did you get to conduct exciting research? And Any French cuisine recommendations around Savannah would be bonus. Do miss good croissant every now and then!

Hey there! Didn't attend Skidaway Institute of Oceanography, but did transfer from Gainesville State to UGA and found it to be pretty smooth transition.

Hey there! I'm Hannah, currently sophomore at Albany State University.

Not to hijack the thread, but I'm actually curious about something similar the marine biology program at the College of Coastal Georgia. My heart's always been with the ocean and its fascinating creatures, so I've been seriously considering transferring to that program. But before diving head first into it, really want to get feel for what I'd be getting myself into, you know? So, if anyone has experienced the marine biology program at Coastal Georgia, Apologies for veering off topic slightly, but figured it's pretty related to the original question! Thanks everyone!

I'm always curious about how other science-related programs operate. I think it's cool to see the intersection between agriculture and oceanography, especially with issues like water quality and marine ecology becoming more important.

It's always great to learn from different perspectives, so I'm considering checking out Skidaway Institute someday. In my experience here in Georgia, I've found that hands-on learning is crucial in our field. Whether it's working in the lab or out in the field, getting that real-world experience is invaluable. If anyone has attended Skidaway Institute, I'd love to hear about your hands-on experiences there! Did you get to participate in any research projects or internships related to agricultural science? How did the institute support your academic and career goals? And most importantly, did you have fun while learning?

Can't wait to hear more about Skidaway Institute of Oceanography from a fellow student's perspective! It's always inspiring to see how different majors and institutions approach scientific research and education.

Georgia's got some awesome spots for research and exploration. If any film students out there have checked it out, share your experience! I'm all about capturing unique visuals and storytelling, so hearing about the ocean side of things would be fascinating.

Also, do they offer any hands-on opportunities for students to get involved? I'm always on the lookout for new experiences to broaden my technical skills. 😄🎥

Wow, Skidaway Institute of Oceanography, that sounds like a cool place to study! I haven't attended there myself, but I've heard some awesome things about their programs. 🌊 As an Entrepreneurship student at Georgia State, my focus is more on business ventures than ocean research, but I'm always curious to learn about different fields. It would be interesting to hear about the unique experiences and opportunities available at Skidaway. If anyone here has first-hand experience at the institute, I'd love to hear about your time there! What were your favorite aspects of studying at Skidaway?

Did you get involved in any exciting projects or research? How did the coastal environment shape your educational experience? I'm especially interested in hearing how students balance academic coursework with hands-on learning experiences. In Entrepreneurship, we're all about applying what we learn in real-world settings.

Do students at Skidaway get a lot of practical experience alongside their studies? Overall, I think it's awesome to see the diverse range of educational institutions we have here in Georgia. Each one offers a unique perspective and learning environment.
