The blank page is mocking me. 😩 How do you start when writing a persuasive essay?

I’m staring at my screen. The cursor is just blinking. Blink. Blink. Mocking me. I have all my sources bookmarked, my coffee is getting cold, and I just... can't type the first word. I know I should start with a bang, a hook, a statistic, a question, something!

But my brain is static. How do you guys break through that initial wall of nothing? Do you write the introduction last? Do you just start in the middle with a body paragraph? I need a method, any method, to just get something on the page. Help a desperate classmate out!

Deepler, close your eyes and type the dumbest sentence you can think of. Seriously. "This essay is about why X is important because of reasons." It doesn't matter if it's garbage—you can't edit a blank page. I always start with body paragraph one and write the intro last. How can you hook someone into an argument you haven't even made yet? Save the fancy stuff for when you actually know what you're saying. You got this. Just type literally anything.
