I'm recent alum of the beautiful Georgia College State University, now tackling the roller coaster that is the post-grad job market as new journalist in Macon. Maybe it's just me, but this whole process feels like one big jigsaw puzzle, and can't even find the corner pieces. Mean, remember back on campus?
Coffee-fueled late nights at the library studying for finals or wrapping up group projects those were stressful times for sure. But there was always that reassuring network of professors who'd guide us when we stumbled, classmates to rant with over midnight pizzas. Ah! The good old days! Nowadays, every job listing feels like decoding an ancient language. Years of experience required"? Dude, just finished my degree! When did you expect me to squeeze in those years?
And don't even get me started on "entry level" positions asking for more qualifications than I've seen in my whole college career. On side note, anyone here from Mercer University? I've got cousin considering applying there and she's pretty curious about campus life. How's the culture over there? Are professors really nurturing or is it more of sink-or-swim scenario? Any fun traditions worth sharing?
