Oglethorpe is $45,000 a year. That's private school money. But is the education worth that price? I've looked at graduation rates, job placement rates, grad school acceptance rates. Everything looks fine. Not amazing. Not terrible. Fine. But fine isn't worth $45,000. I visited last spring. The campus is beautiful — old buildings, oak trees, quiet courtyards. But beautiful doesn't pay the bills.
A current student told me: "The rigor depends on the professor. Some are hard. Some are easy. You have to seek out the hard ones." That's honest. But it's also scary. What if I don't seek out the right professors? What if I coast through and graduate without learning anything? Hidden gem or overpriced secret? I can't tell
