I'm a teacher and I started a voluntary cursive writing club at my middle school a few years ago as a way to connect with students and share something I'm passionate about. Honestly, I wasn't sure anyone would come. But it's been incredibly popular. We meet twice a week, practice letter formation, play writing games, and talk about why cursive matters. The students tell me they like it because it's meditative, it helps them take notes faster in class, and they feel 'grown up' signing their names . One student said she uses it for all her social studies notes now because she can write faster without picking up her pencil . Another realized that knowing cursive helps her read her grandma's letters . They've even made connections to practical stuff like signing contracts and preventing fraud with unique signatures . It's been one of the most rewarding things I've done as a teacher. Anyone else running something like this? What works for you?
