I learn a character, practice it 20 times, feel confident... and the next day it's completely gone. Anyone else? I was so frustrated until I discovered techniques that actually work for long-term retention.

💡Spaced repetition – This is scientifically proven. Apps like Anki schedule reviews at optimal intervals—just when you're about to forget . I review characters daily, then every few days, then weekly.

💡Mnemonics – Create stories for characters. 休 (rest) combines 亻(person) and 木(tree)—someone leaning against a tree to rest . Once you have the story, you won't forget.

💡Write in context – Characters learned in isolation are easy to forget. Learn them in words and sentences. 喝 (drink) makes more sense when you learn 喝水 (drink water) .

💡Connect to what you know – Compare new characters to familiar ones. 妈 (mom) and 吗 (question particle) share the same phonetic part—remembering one helps remember the other .

💡Read daily – Seeing characters in context reinforces memory naturally. Graded readers are perfect for this .

Hey Deepler, I feel your pain! 😫 The "learn today, forget tomorrow" cycle is so real. Your tips are spot on—Anki has been a lifesaver for me too. I'd add: try writing them by hand while saying them out loud. Engaging multiple senses at once seems to help lock them into my brain better. Thanks for sharing these!
