My little sister is in 7th grade and she told me her school is taking phones away next year. I thought she was joking. She's not. Apparently Georgia passed a law banning phones from kindergarten through 8th grade starting fall 2026 .
I'm in high school, so I thought I was safe. But now I'm hearing they might ban phones in high schools too. My mom saw something on the news and asked me about it. I had no idea.
A survey just came out and 83% of high school teachers want phones banned . They say phones are "very disruptive" and hurt learning. Parents are mostly on board too — 71% support extending the ban to high schools .
Is this really happening? What would high school even look like without phones? How would I talk to my friends?

Honestly though, maybe it would cut down on the cringey fights people post on IG. Remember when that huge brawl at the North Gwinnett game was live-streamed? Super embarrassing for everyone involved. Less of that might not be so bad.
