I'm trying to map out my fall schedule for tailgates and travel, and I need to know when Georgia college football teams start their 2026 seasons. I follow both UGA and Georgia Tech, and they have different opening weekends this year. The big news is that Georgia opens at home against Tennessee State on Saturday, September 5 at Sanford Stadium . That's a Week 1 game against an FCS opponent, so it should be a good chance to see the new squad before the schedule gets brutal. After that, they host Western Kentucky on September 12 before traveling to Arkansas .
Georgia Tech, on the other hand, actually kicks off earlier with a huge non-conference game against Colorado on Saturday, September 5 as well . So both major programs start on the same day, just different opponents. Tech then hosts Tennessee on September 12 in what should be an electric atmosphere at Bobby Dodd Stadium . So if you're like me and want to catch both teams early in the season, you could theoretically hit the UGA game on September 5 and then head to Atlanta for the Tech home games later. Anyone else planning to make it to multiple opening games? And has anyone seen whether the Florida game on October 31 in Atlanta will have a time announced soon? That one's going to be huge.
