Okay, I have to admit it publicly. I used to think that free writing courses were just glorified blog posts with a fancy title. I was a total snob about it, thinking if you aren't paying for a prestigious workshop, it's not legit.
Boy, was I wrong. I stumbled upon a free writing course about rhetoric—specifically "Rhetoric: The Theory and Practice" . I took it just to brush up on persuasive writing for work, but it blew my mind. It taught me how to analyze arguments in politics, ads, and even conversations with my family. The readings were deep, and the lectures were college-level. If you are on the fence about whether these courses have any value, just jump in. The quality of free content out there is shocking (in the best way). Who else has had their mind changed by a free class?
