Business plan writing, pitch prep, and market research. Balancing classes, work, and extracurriculars got me feeling like a chicken with its head cut off! How do you Georgia peaches manage it all? Any tips for staying afloat in the sea of entrepreneurship at Georgia colleges? Much love!
Amanda, I'm a grad student who mentors undergrad entrepreneurs. I see this struggle every day. Here's the real talk:
You can't do everything well. Something has to give. The question is: what's most important to YOU right now?
For entrepreneurship students, the key is integration. Your classes, your work, and your extracurriculars shouldn't be separate buckets. They should feed each other.
Example:
Use your market research from your startup for your business class project
Use your pitch prep as a case study for your marketing class
Use your work experience as real-world data for your entrepreneurship club
When everything connects, you're not doing 3 separate things—you're doing ONE thing from 3 angles.
UGA resources that help with integration:
Innovation Gateway – helps you connect your startup to academic credit
Entrepreneurship Program – courses designed around real ventures
FIRE Fellows – research-based entrepreneurship (literally designed for this)
Also, join the Entrepreneurship Club. Your peers are going through the exact same thing. Commiserate together, succeed together.
