Hope everyone's semester is going awesome! I'm a sophomore at Georgia State, and my absolute favorite thing to do is explore all the amazing food spots in Atlanta (and I make the trip to Athens pretty often on weekends!). But let's be honest... eating out all the time is NOT in the student budget. 💸

That's why we have to be smart about it! I'm on a mission to find the most delicious, most filling student discounts in the city for 2026. Think late-night study snacks, weekend brunches that won't bankrupt you, and post-exam celebration dinners!

Here are a couple of my personal faves to kick things off:
  • R. Thomas' Deluxe Grill: This place is an Atlanta institution! It's open 24/7 and they have a massive menu. I've heard whispers that they offer a 10% student discount, but I always forget to ask. Can anyone confirm? 🤔
  • Jeni's Splendid Ice Cream: Okay, this isn't a huge discount, but they do a "Student Night" sometimes! A few bucks off a scoop is a great excuse for a study break. 🍨
  • The Varsity: It's a classic! It's not really a discount, but the portions are huge and the prices are already pretty fair. Perfect for sharing when you're broke. 😉
What about you guys? Any local pizza places that do a student special? Any taco joints with killer deals on certain days? I need all the recommendations!

  • Clarke's Collective: Monday-Friday 5-9pm $2 wells + daily deals like $5 Montucky & shot on Mondays
  • Blind Pig Tavern: 2-7pm weekdays, Thursdays is wing night with $4 Mexican beers
Food-Specific:
  • Pine Bar: Daily 5-9pm $1 off select oysters, Wednesdays $6 wine + $12 cheese/charcuterie boards
  • Paloma Park: Sundays 99 cent wings ALL DAY
Also, UGA has the "Let All the Big Dawgs Eat" food scholarship for students with need—meal plan awards through private donors . Apply in March!
