Hey Georgia students! I just accepted an internship (so excited!
), and I HAVE to share how I did it because I used resources that not enough people know about. If you're wondering how to find a job as a georgia student, let me be your guide!
First – GAfutures is literally life-changing. It's designed for Georgia students exploring careers, and it has tools for matching you to careers based on your interests, plus test prep for SAT/ACT/GRE . I spent hours on there figuring out what I actually wanted to do.
Then I discovered LearningExpress Job & Career Accelerator through my local library's website . It has over 5 MILLION job postings and helps you create resumes and practice interviewing. I used the mock interview tool like five times before my big interview!
For actual job hunting, I used Career Connector powered by Goodwill of North Georgia – you can chat with a Virtual Career Coach for free! So helpful for when I was stuck on my cover letter.
And here's a huge one: WorkSource Georgia! It's a federally-funded program through the Technical College System of Georgia . They offer WIOA funding for training and certifications. I qualified for help with resume workshops and they even connected me to local employers.
Don't sleep on Handshake either – my university career center set up my account, and I found my internship there . Plus, if you're at UGA, they have amazing tools like Big Interview for practice and Forage for virtual work experience with Fortune 500 companies .
Georgia is literally FULL of resources for students. You just have to know where to look! Anyone else used any of these? Let's help each other out!
