I'm a high school senior in-state, and I've been lucky enough to get into both UGA and Georgia Tech. I thought this would be a good problem to have, but honestly, it's just stressing me out. They're so different, and I feel like I'm choosing between two totally different lives.
The dilemma: I'm not 100% set on my major. I like science, I like problem-solving, but I also like writing and humanities. I'm interested in maybe environmental science, or public policy, or even architecture? I'm all over the place.
Here's my pro-con list so far:
Georgia Tech (Atlanta):

Here's my pro-con list so far:
Georgia Tech (Atlanta):
- Pros: Incredible reputation, especially for STEM. If I do figure out I want to be an engineer or CS person, this is the place. The co-op program is amazing. Atlanta is a cool city with tons of opportunities. Alumni network is strong.
- Cons: Intense. Like, really intense. I've heard horror stories about the workload and the curve. Also, the gender ratio thing is real—I've heard it can be a weird social vibe. Not as much of a "traditional" campus feel.
- Pros: Athens is an amazing college town. The music scene, the downtown, the vibe. More of a "classic" college experience with football and school spirit. More flexibility to explore majors—I could try environmental science, or poli sci, or even landscape architecture. Seems easier to have a social life.
- Cons: Big. Like, huge classes. Is it easy to get lost in the crowd? Is the education as rigorous as Tech's? Will I have the same job prospects if I don't do a super STEM-y major?
