Agnes Scott: Why I chose a women's college and why you might consider it too.

I go to Agnes Scott College in Decatur (right outside Atlanta), and the reaction I always get is: "Wait, an all-women's college? Isn't that... weird?"

No. It's actually amazing.

First, the academics. Agnes Scott is rigorous. Like, "writing a thesis is required for graduation" rigorous. My classes are small, my professors are brilliant, and I'm not competing for airtime with dudes who think they know everything. (Sorry boys, you know it's true.)

Second, the community. There's something special about being in a space designed for women to lead. Everyone is in clubs, everyone runs something, everyone speaks up. The confidence you gain is real.

Third, Atlanta access. We're in Decatur, which is a cute little town, but MARTA takes you right into Atlanta. Internships, culture, city life—it's all there.

Fourth, the "Scottie" network. Alumnae are everywhere and they look out for each other.

Is it for everyone? No. But if you want a tight-knit community where you're pushed to be your best self, don't write us off. Any other Scotties on here? 💜💛

For anyone who doesn't know, ASC has this whole "global learning" thing where every student does a travel component related to their studies. I went to Morocco for two weeks last year (partially funded by the school!!) and it literally changed my life. The global perspective you get here is unreal.

Also the professors are just... different. Like, my econ professor hosted a dinner at her house for our whole class. My English professor wrote me a recommendation letter that made me cry because of how personal it was. They actually see you as a whole person, not just a student ID.

The "bubble" thing people worry about? It's real but it's also a feature, not a bug. You have time to grow and figure yourself out before the real world hits. And when it does, you're ready.
